The village of Křenice lies about 21 km east of central Prague and 5 km north of Říčany. In 2025, it had 1,057 residents.

The village was first mentioned in writing in 1331, when it belonged to the Prague burgher Henslin. Its oldest historic monument is a bell from 1747 by Jan Horálek; the present stone bell tower dates from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. A memorial in the village commemorates eleven local victims of the First World War.
